What is Phobia and Panic Attack?

Phobia is an irrational fear of situation or object which goes beyond any actual threat or danger it presents.

Phobia are of various types :

  • Specific Phobia(e.g. animals, situations, object etc)
  • Social Phobia or Social anxiety disorder
  • Agoraphobia (afraid of being embarrassed, afraid of getting panic attack and finding difficulty to get away from the situation).

Panicdisorder :

People experience pani c attack suddenly and unexpectedly. Panic disorder sufferers become hypervigilant about the possibility of upcoming panic attack Th is can be triggered by anything that reminds the sufferer of the event or situation where he /she had experienced panic attack

Symptoms of Phobia:

  • Dizziness, trembling, and increased heart rate
  • Breathlessness
  • A sense of unreality
  • Extreme, irrational fear of situation, insect, place, or object
  • Panic when thinking about or being exposed to irrational fear

Symptoms of Panic:

  • Palpitations or accelerated heart rate
  • Excessive sweating, trembling or shaking
  • Shortness of breath
  • Sudden and unexpected recurring panic attacks
  • Fear of when next attack will strike
